Top Car Manufacturer Agrees on A Standard EV Charger
The top eight car manufacturers of the world has reinvent how EV chargers works by making it fast-charging and allowing electric cars to charge in 15-20 minutes span.
The new fast charging technology was spearheaded by 8 of the best brands coming from United States and Germany. The car manufacturer venturing together for a more eco-friendly and efficient EV charger were Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Ford, General Motors, Porsche and Volkswagen. The technology is a unified single-port fast charging with multiple charging system and will be called DC-Fast charger.

The new tech will allow vehicle charging at home and also at public stations. This will allow customers to charge at most existing charging stations regardless of power source and may speed more affordable adoption of a standardised infrastructure.
The new standard EV charger has received positive support from top organizations like the SAE or The International Society of Automotive Engineers which has selected the new technology to be the standard in fast charging for electric powered cars. The European Association of Vehicle Manufacturers also decided that the Combined Charging System will be the new technology to be used in all vehicle types in Europe this coming 2017.
The new Combined Charging System was a product of combining different charging strategies in U.S. and in Europe. The Combined Charging System was developed for all international vehicle markets and creates a uniform standard with identical electrical systems, charge controllers, package dimensions and safety mechanisms.
The car manufacturers supporting the new charger system will release its vehicles using the tech in 2013. The new EV charger is another testament that the electric vehicle market is growing and the demand for environmentally friendly vehicles is also rising.
