Toyota’s Surprise Electric Entry to the Japanese GT series
Electric cars are perhaps the last thing that one would dream of when thinking about the upcoming Japanese GT series which makesToyota’s feat of ambition even more remarkable. Toyota truly believes that they have built an electric GT car that can compete with the very best that other manufacturers have to offer.
Toyota have been testing out replacing their current pair of highly tuned Corolla Axio GT 300 race performance cars with two modified Prius hybrid racing vehicles that have undergone months of development. This feat has been made more likely to have become a possibility in the last year with the introduction of a 300 bhp maximum limit for all cars in the GT 300 series.
Even so, the engineering feat of creating a super drive train with excellent low end torque is remarkable and will certainly give the Toyota Prius GT a different edge when it comes to the series. The rumors were back even stronger when it was revealed that Honda have been attempting a comeback to the GT 3000 series with their version of an CR-Z sports hybrid.
Neither manufacturer has confirmed their entries to the series yet but will certainly make a great racing series and an insight to the future of automobile racing.
