Hybrids of the US 2011
As 2011 draws to a close, we find ourselves at the end of another year in which huge progress has been made into the future world of non-polluting personal automobiles. We will round up the year and look forward to 2012.
Perhaps the story of the year is the gas-mileage regulations that where issued by the Whitehouse to ensure that all vehicles in the US achieve at least 54.5 mpg by 2025. This has given the manufacturers a problem in which a solution is required to keep the US and the world moving. This has also given a re-rise to the “small car” market in levels that have not been seen in the US in over 30 years. With new regulations tightening and gas prices on the increase, the trend looks set to increase into the next year and further.

2011 has also seen the US car buy change the way they view cars. It is not longer a fashionable as it once was to own the biggest car on the street. The smaller the engine and the higher the fuel efficiency is becoming far more attractive to the mass market. The US car market sold over 17,000 fully electric cars in 2011 which is a number that is set to increase by 50% in 2012.
