Audi A1 TDI S is More Than Just a City Car
Audi. the german manufacturer of stylish supermini, crossover and SVU has launched Audi A1 in 2010 to target the market of the young, trendy and affluent urban car buyers. Audi are successful with their line ups especially in UK and Germany and now the Audi A1 has come a long way and has been revamped to also compete in the green car industry but also in the hip small car such as the mini and the Alfa Mito.
A larger version of the usual mini and smaller cars, the Audi A1 has 1.6 litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and can power 103 bhp at 4,400 rpm and 184 lbs ft of torque from 1,500 rpm. The car can accelerate with 0-62 mph taking 10.5 seconds. Audi A1 TDI is built with the purpose of being a mean small car. it is tougher compared the other minis and overall, it is not just a typical car for the urban youngster rather it is an upgraded city car but a sturdy car in the motorways but of course, we don’t advise you to consider it as a race car just because it has a top speed of 118 mph for a small car.
The front seats are bigger which makes it very comfortable compared to other Audis and even if there are two large persons in the front, the frontseat will still be comfy and cosy. The seat adjustments and stirring wheel are not a hassle to new Audi drivers and if you are a previous Audi owner then it is like wearing an old shoes – comfortable and very at ease. The A1 TDI has also added features such as big folding armrest with compartments for added comforts for long journeys such as a space for your mobile phones, coffees but for an added EURO 125 and also for a EURO 690 you can have a BOSE stereo for an absolute and high end music experience.
So why this car is green? It has an automatic stop-restart system when in traffic and energy recuperation which saves fuels. It also has a highly efficient direct fuel-injected engine which again can save you gallons of fuel when traveling in great distance which is the car was also built for – great distance, urban lifestyle and fuel efficient. Another green feat is that it uses a DLC technology which is a substance called diamond-like-coating. The DLC is coated on the oil pump, piston rings and other parts of the engine to reduce friction and save fuel. This technology is found mostly in racing engines so this makes the car more than just a car for young urban lifestyle. All these features combine to award the tested A1 with a Next Green Car Rating of 30.
