The CR-Z uses the sixth-generation parallel hybrid system called Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) which are used in all Honda’s Hybrid models.The IMA can save energy by shutting off the fuel engine and operates for a short time on electric power only. The main fuel source is a 1.5-liter, four cylinder, 16-valve engine which uses the computer operated i-VTEC which controls timing and lift system that improves fuel economy and reduces exhaust emissions. The engine has a running peak of 113 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 107 pounds-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm.
Honda CR-Z’s design is is a mash-up the 1980′s and 90′s CR-X and the latest Honda Insight and of course with the CR-Z 2009 model. The design is very sleek and direct to the point. It is not trying to be a high-end civic rather it has its own distinct look which is sporty with an environmental friendly touch to it. Its front shape is wedge style and it makes it look aggressive and similar to a sports car. It has a two-seat interior which has enough room for bigger and taller driver and passenger and its seat are covered and styled with sport’s car materials.
Honda CR-Z has an starting price of $19,545 and comes in 3 different offering. The base which is the cheapest then followed by EX and EX Navigation which features additional options like polished interior accents, sub-woofer and Bluetooth technology.
